Moto G7 family: how to reset the mobile to factory settings

Motorola Android
It is the moment that nobody wants to arrive, but resetting the mobile to factory settings is useful in many occasions. In some cases it is about solving a problem, but in many others just to prepare the mobile because it will happen to someone else. Whatever your reason, today we are going to tell you how to restore the Motorola Moto G7, G7 Plus , G7 Power and G7 Play to factory settings .
Before telling you the procedure to follow, it should be remembered that when you reset the phone, all data is deleted since the terminal is restored to the initial state. Therefore, data such as multimedia files (music, photos, videos), system settings and data, settings and application data (including SMS / MMS) and all downloaded applications will be deleted.

Having this clear the next step is to make a backup of our Moto G7, G7 Plus, G7 Play or G7 Power. To do this we must copy all the photos, videos or music to a PC or to a cloud storage service. Once we have saved all the data that we later want to recover, we can proceed with the restoration of the mobile to factory values.

From the «Settings» menu

The easiest and fastest method is done from the settings menu. For this we will have to go to Settings / System / Backup. If we are going to reset the settings because we believe that a third-party application is causing problems, it is convenient to deactivate the “Backup on Google Drive”. In this way we can restore the applications one by one instead of automatically having all the ones we had before the restoration, so we can have better control over what could cause the problem. Once done we can confirm the restart from Advanced Settings / Reset options / Clear all data.

Alternative method

If we are in the position that the mobile screen does not work, we can perform the external reset. To do this we will have to charge the phone until we have at least 30% and turn it off.
  • Press and hold the volume down button and the power button at the same time until the phone turns on.
  • Press the volume down button until you see Recovery mode.
  • Press the power button to restart in recovery mode.
  • If you see an Android robot with a red exclamation mark, press and hold the power button. Then press and release the volume up button to display the menu options.
  • Use the volume buttons to scroll to Wipe data / factory reset, and then press the power button to select it.
  • Use the volume buttons to scroll to Yes, and then press the power button to select it.
  • Use the volume buttons to scroll to an option, and then press the power button to select it:
  1. User data only : keep personalized content that accompanies the phone, including image, wallpaper, ringtones and power messages
  2. User data + personalized content : delete all content and data
  • Leave several seconds for the reset to complete.
  • Use the volume buttons to scroll to Reboot system now, and then press the power button to select it.
  • Allow several minutes for the restart to complete. If the phone does not complete the restart, press and hold the power button until the screen goes dark, then release it to turn it on normally.
